2017 Chamorro Night – Saturday, October 7, 2017

NOTE: NO EVENT TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR.
Our annual Chamorro Night Event will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017.  This is one of our last major events of the year…and historically, has been a highlight for all attendees.  Capacity at the venue is 220, so if you plan on attending, tickets are still available and can be purchased by clicking on this link:  https://squareup.com/market/guam-society-of-america-inc

DATE: Saturday, October 7, 2017

TIME: 6pm – 11pm

LOCATION: Fort Belvoir Community Center, 10300 Taylor Rd, Building 1200, Fort Belvoir, VA  22060.

This year’s theme:  Famagu’on Chamorro – Honoring those who are carrying on the traditions and culture of the Chamorros

Ticket Prices for the event are:

  • Guam Society Members:  $30/person
  • Non-members:  $40/person
  • Guam Society Honorary Members “Manaina”:  $15/person (Please note these are official Guam Society Honorary Members/Manaina as designated by the Guam Society)
  • Students (Ages 13-17 / Undergraduate College Students):  $10
  • Children (Ages 5-12):  $5
  • Children Under 5:  Free

Evening Program will include:

  • Traditional Chamorro Cuisine
  • Entertainment by Matua Sablan
  • Island Dance Performances
  • Announcement of the 2018 Guam Society Cherry Blossom Princess and Junior Princess
  • Music and Dancing
  • Raffles (50/50, Membership, and Prizes)

Instructions for Clearing Base Security:

IMPORTANT – For those without Department of Defense identification (ie., military ID/CAC), you will need to submit the requested information no later than midnight, September 24.  A list of all non-military visitors and their Driver’s License information will be submitted to Gate Security 10 days prior to the event.  Personnel on this list will be able to show their Driver’s License and proceed through the gate.  All vehicle occupants must show a government-issued photo I.D. (i.e., driver’s license, State ID, passport).  If you do not provide the required information, you will not be able to enter the base.  Anyone 15 years old and younger are not required to present an ID.  Please send the required information to Peter Camit by email at peter.camit@gmail.com or by calling 478-284-6996.

Directions:  (Please note that the Fort Belvoir Pence Gate is closed on Saturdays) –  Use the Fort Belvoir Tulley Gate.

From Washington DC (I-95 South)

  • If you are traveling south on 1-95, take the Fairfax Parkway/Backlick Road (286) exit 166 A.
  • Take the Fairfax County Parkway to its end at U.S. Rt. 1 (Richmond Highway.)
  • Turn left.
  • At the first light, on the right, is the entrance for Tulley Gate on to Fort Belvoir.
  • Tulley Gate is the main entrance to the post for visitors. All visitors without a Department of Defense ID card must use Tulley Gate which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Proceed on Pohick Rd for .7 mile, continue on 12th St for .3 mile, turn left onto Belvoir Rd, keep left to stay on Belvoir Rd, at the traffic circle take the 1st exit, turn right onto Taylor Rd.

From Richmond (I-95 North)

  • If you are traveling north on 1-95 North, take the Fort Belvoir Exit 161 B. (U.S. Rt 1 — Richmond Highway)
  • You will travel five miles to Fort Belvoir.
  • Continue through the light at the Fairfax County Parkway (286). At the next stop light, on the right side you will see the entrance for Tulley Gate, turn right.
  • Proceed on Pohick Rd for .7 mile, continue on 12th St for .3 mile, turn left onto Belvoir Rd, keep left to stay on Belvoir Rd, at the traffic circle take the 1st exit, turn right onto Taylor Rd.
