As my term as President of the Guam Society of America concludes on December 31, 2016, I want to personally thank you for supporting your Guam Society during the past two years. With your support the Guam Society has continued to foster and perpetuate the Chamorro culture and traditions in the Washington, DC region. Many of you have volunteered your time and actively participated in many events to strengthen this organization . . . . we could not have done it without your support.
Thank you to the Executive Committee — Vice-President Char Harris; Treasurer Aylene Mafnas; and Secretary Sara Harrison for your dedication and support. Many thanks to the Chairmen/Chairwomen and their committees who served in leadership roles and spearheaded our GSA events throughout the year. They are: Hospitality – Annie Quichocho; Membership – Bernie Cruz; Volunteer Appreciation Night – Sara Harrison/John Salas; Cherry Blossom Coronation Ball – Char Harris; Memorial Day Picnic – Paul Sanchez; Liberation Picnic – Gerald Corpuz; Scholarship – Mike Blas; Pacific Fun Day – Terri Smith; the Robert LG Lizama Memorial Golf Classic – Ed Yanger/Ray Duenas; Softball Tournament – Ton Cruz; Chamorro Night – Ray Duenas; Santa Marian Kamalen Novenas – Rosanne Meno; Election Committee – Mike Blas; Christmas Party – Terri Sanchez; and hosting the General Membership Meetings – Terri and Danny Smith.
Thank you to Congresswoman Bordallo and her entire staff for the tremendous support they have provided the Guam Society. The partnership cultivated from many years of promoting Guam’s culture and tradition in the surrounding communities of the Washington DC Region, is evident in the incredible support tying many of us back to our island roots.
Finally, I’d like to congratulate the newly elected 2017-2018 Guam Society Officers. I am confident they will be successful in leading the Society to new heights. In that light, I’m asking for your continued support to the Society by renewing your annual membership for 2017 and to encourage others to be a part of the Society.
Merry Christmas to you and your families and all the best for the coming New Year.
President, Guam Society of America
