Winter has finally gone (Good Riddance!) and the 2014 Summer is about to begin. The Guam Society of America kicks off its summer events with our annual Memorial Day Picnic.
This year’s picnic will be held at Freedom Park at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 12:00PM-7:00PM.
As in past years, this is a POTLUCK event – please bring a Chamorro Dish, an Appetizer, & and ONE (1) – 2-liter bottle of soda or a gallon of water. If you are bringing meats for BBQ; we ask that you arrive with the meats (defrosted, please) by 10:00AM.
This is also a BYOB event, but please note that NO GLASS or BOTTLES are allowed at Freedom Park.

Unfortunately, security requirements do not allow for non-military ID card holders to enter without a sponsor. The Guam Society will have someone at the Visitor Control Center at the Main Gate for
Andrews Air Force Base to sponsor you if you are a non-military ID card holder. You must arrive at the Visitor Center not later than 12:30PM to be sponsored. If you have friends or family members who are in the military or are retirees, you’re welcome to have them join you and they can sponsor you into the installation as well. Please do not assume that a Common Access Card (CAC) will allow you entrance into the installation.
For GPS purposes, use the following address to get you to the Visitor Control Center/Andrews Main Gate: 1832 Westover Drive, Andrews Air Force Base, MD 20762.
There will be a DJ and dancing as well as the usual Chamorro cuisine including red rice, BBQ ribs, chicken, and a whole roast pig (lechon); arrive early so you don’t miss out on the lenchon.
