2012 Guam Liberation Picnic, Saturday, July 21, 2012

Hafa Adai!

The Guam Society of America will hold its annual Liberation Picnic commemorating the 68th Anniversary of the Liberation of Guam during World War II.  This year’s Liberation theme is ‘Imagine Guam…..68 Years of Progress Through Peace’.   This year is a milestone year for the Guam Society as it celebrates its Diamond (60th) Anniversary as an organization and as a Society under the National Conference of States Societies (NCSS).

Please join us for a day of remembrance, fun, festivities, culture and most of all Chamorro fiesta cuisine.  We look forward to having everyone join us and encourgae you to join the Guam Society either here on the website or at the picnic.  Details for the events are provided below and on the attached flyer (please click on this link to download it) 2012GSALiberationPicnic.

Bring your family and friends and share our legacy as Chamorros and Pacific Islanders at this event.  You’ll be pleasantly surprised at the close-nit atmosphere of the event, the dignitaries who join us, and the family and friends you’ll meet there — some of whom you didn’t even realize were in the area.  Bring the kids as there will be Children’s Games.  There will be dancing contests, coconut griding contests, vendors, and more.

You’ll get to meet and take a photo with the 2012 Guam Society Cherry Blossom Princess, Mariana Cruz.

The Society will also announce and present the 2012 Guam Society Scholarships at the picnic.

Be entertained by the musical stylings of the Tropic Sounds Band and enjoy performances by the Kutturan Chamoru Foundation.

Please be sure to RSVP to info@guamsociety.org to get your name on the access roster for the TISCOM Coast Guard Base.
