Congressional Guam Liberation Reception

UPDATED:  The Guam Society of America sponsors the  Capitol Hill Reception honoring the Liberation of Guam.  This is an event held each year in our nation’s capital.  Guam Congressional Delegate, the Honorable Madeleine Z. Bordallo and CNMI Congressional Delegate, the Honorable Gregorio Kilili Sablan are the honorary hosts of this event, a celebration honoring the sacrifices of the U.S. Armed Services and Chamorros during the Liberation of Guam in World War II.   This year’s event will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 5:00 – 9:00 PM at the Cannon Caucus Room (Room 345) Cannon House Offie Building, New Jersey Avenue & Independence Avenue, SE, Washington, D.C.  20515.  The Liberation of Guam celebration is the biggest Guam event held in Washington, D.C. by our Guam community and has proven to be the most popular event among Capitol Hill staff and Members of Congress.  Attendees experience Guam’s culture through Chamorro food, music and a cultural performance by the Kutturan Chamorro dancers.  Presentation of the colors, singing of the National Anthem and Guam Hymns, will be followed by speeches from various distinguished guests.  The event will be catered by various Chamorros who live in the Washington, DC metro area and will include kelaguen, ribs, red rice, and more.   Come out to the BEST party on Capitol Hill!
