Please join fellow State Society members on Saturday, March 12th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. as we partner with the Japan-America Society of Washington DC (JASW) and together volunteer with the National Park Service (NPS) to clean and prepare the area around the Tidal Basin in preparation for the 2011 Cherry Blossom Festival! This historic area includes the Japanese Stone Lantern, where NCSS coordinates the annual Lantern Lighting Ceremony and is home to some of the earliest cherry blossom trees, which were first given to Washington DC from Japan almost 100 year ago. Come join us to learn about this historic site, make new friends and be of service to our community!
